Weeds poison carbon offset programs

Gamba grass and other invasive weeds could threaten environmental offset programs, including the Carbon Farming Initiative, according to a study from Charles Darwin University.

Researchers analysed the extent of gamba grass threats and found that areas suitable for savanna burning are also suitable for gamba grass to grow.

Savanna burning is one method of reducing Australia’s carbon emissions.
