The woman that caused a social media frenzy earlier this monday has been arrested by Police. Today social media has been a force for good as public outrage lead to an arrest for what may have otherwise been a forgotten incident.
Piers Morgan Tweeted
“Very encouraged by level of outrage on here to the #MyTramExperience video” “Britain is so much better than that vile bigoted creature.”
Social networks have cuaght fire this morning with the spread of this video that is quickly becoming notorious. This YouTube video has already received over 9,000 hits.
The woman is heard telling the black people on the bus that they are “not British” because they are “black” and that they should go back to “Nigeragua”.
Is this the hidden face of racism that still exists in Britain or is it just a rare video capture of an intoxicated woman?
Whilst premiership footballers are charged and designers such as Galliano are fined in court, will this woman be sought by the police for questioning?
Her outburst was aimed mainly at ‘black’, ‘brown’ and ‘Polish’ people in a claim that their being in the UK had damaged ‘her Britain’.
Many of her comments were common rhetoric of groups such as the BNP.
There have been calls across London to identify this woman and for police to press charges.
A Transport for London spokesman said: “TfL will not tolerate this disgusting and offensive behaviour and we will work with the police to fully investigate this incident.”
Identified as Emma West, 34 of New Addington, Croydon she has now been charged by police. She is due to appear before Crodon Magistrates Court later.
